Legislated Marriage License Requirements:
? A wedding ceremony in the Province of Alberta may be performed by either a member of the Clergy or a registered Marriage Commissioner.
? A wedding performed in Alberta is valid worldwide.
? The wedding couple must present the Marriage Commissioner with a valid marriage license before the cermony.
? The bride, groom and two adult witnesses over the age of 18 must be present for the Marriage Commissioner to perform a ceremony.
? Weddings I perform must take place in Calgary and area.
? The Marriage Ceremony cannot be performed if the bride or groom are under the influence of drugs or liquor.
? During the Ceremony, the two legislated statements must be declared individually by both the bride and the groom in english.
? A civil marriage statement must be presented to the bride and groom at the conclusion of the ceremony.
? The Registration of Marriage must be forwarded for registration with Vital Statistics within two days following the ceremony.
How to get a Marriage License:
? Go to your local registry
? Both the bride and groom must go together
? Both parties must provide proper identification
? If you are under the age of 18 special Consent by a parent or legal guardian is required
? This takes approximately 15 - 20 minutes
? Cost is around $70.00
? Be prepared with your parents full legal names and their place of birth
? If divorced you must provide Final Divorce Papers
? If your past spouse is deceased and you wish to remarry you must provide a death certificate
? Marriage license is valid immediately upon exiting the Registry and is good for 3 months
